방송과 영상문화에 관한 연구와 강의를 진행하고 있다. 연세대학교 언론홍보영상학부 졸업 후, 캐나다 Simon Fraser University에서 석사를, 미국 University of Pennsylvania 애넌버그 스쿨에서 박사학위를 취득했고, 고려대 임용 전 미시건 호프칼리지에서 3년간 조교수로 근무했다. 2015년에는 Simon Fraser University의 Centre for Policy Research on Science and Technology에서 방문교수를 역임했다. 학술 작업 외 직접 제작, 연출한 다큐멘터리 몇 편이 미국 공영방송 PBS 및 해외영화제를 통해 상영된 바 있다.

Main Research Area

영상재현에 대한 관심을 중심으로 미디어 생산자, 텍스트, 수용자를 폭넓게 아우르는 연구를 수행해왔다. 리얼리티 텔레비전, 다큐멘터리, 다문화, 인종, 젠더 및 섹슈얼리티 등이 박지훈 교수의 연구를 아우르는 키워드들이다.
